I just purchased one from www.bhphotovideo.com

It was a "special order" and supposedly they had to order it from Sea&Sea. I ordered it AFTER I noticed people talking about it being discontinued.

Perhaps B&H has a different supplier?? I don't know. It only took a week to arrive via postal service to Canada!!

Where do you get this information? As long as Canon S50 is using the same WP-DC300 housing I cannot see any reason why S & S discontinues the adapter.

I received the info from a direct phone call to Sea and Sea sales department. I was told the it had been discontinued and to search the dealers to maybe find one in stock.

I just spoke to a dealer in the UK. He said that Sea & Sea would only make another batch if they received orders for >100 units.

He also said that he and Sea & Sea UK where taking names and forwarding required numbers to Sea & Sea with the hope of reaching the magic number.

Hi,

I'm a new member using a Canon S40 with DC300 housing and YS90DX strobe - and I've also been trying to get hold of this Sea & Sea adapter in the UK.

I had started looking into an alternative made by Inon - the AD mount which fits the UCL165AD macro lens and the UWL105AD wide angle - see the link below.

http://www.underwaterdigital.net/inon%20ac...accessories.htm

Do any DC300 users have any experience with this mount and either of the lenses?

I've seen a picture of the AD mount on Inon's website which makes it look like it screws into the hole in the base of the housing. If so then it's a non-starter as I'm already using that hole for my strobe mount tray.

If the Inon alternative proves no good then I'll pass my details onto Sea & Sea UK as suggested.

I'm also thinking in this direction and the prices are similar.

Does anyone know which of the MMII lenses the INON 105 and 165 come close (20 or 16mm and 1:2 or 1:3)

Usually such a mounts have the same hole downward so you can screw your strobe mount tray there also. But its must be checked of course.

hi, ive been looking for this adapter for some time. Will email sea & sea to include my name in the list, if there's any.

In the mean time im experimenting a home-made solution... so far not successful.

Ive tried holding the lens in front of the housing...works, but too cumbersome IMO. But only if flash is off. otherwise, some of the lights will be reflected bcak into the port, probably due mis alignment of lens to the port.

sigh... B)

I have one for sale, if anyone is interested.

But will be shipped from Singapore.

Will not be expensive since it is not heavy.

As far as a homemade option goes, I saw one aboard the Caribbean Explorer. It was made using a lens from an old pair of binoculars, a piece of rubber hose and 2 hose clamps.

The lens was the about the same size as the external dimension of the housing.

The rubber hose was an old piece of radiator hose that fit over the lens and the lens housing of the housing.

Most radiator hoses have a groove molded in them where they fit over a nipple ridge on the radiator, the lens was placed in the groove and the hose clamp was put around the lens.

The hose was cut to about the length of an extension tube for a Nikonos.

The macro system worked pretty well as I remember. It could be removed underwater and then put back on by pushing it on and if you had a blunt end knife you could tighten the hose clamp again on the housing.
