Alastair 2 Posted October 10, 2007 I am looking a set of Loc line arms to mount my focus light on (6 segments). Has anyone used them before? they are basically a flexi amr design with interlocking segments. I believe that will also support a small strobe? cheers
PRC 2 Posted October 10, 2007 They work fine - I made my own strobe arms and used them for quite a while with a pair of DS125's. I found with the DS125's and the 3/4" LocLine that they were a bit floppy out of the water but OK in the water. For a focus light or small strobe they will be OK. One minor downside is thgat they can make quite a noise in the water when you adjust them, I have never seen it scare any fish - but I have had a couple of odd looks from other divers. CSPhoto 0 Posted October 28, 2007 I use the 3/4" LocLine for both stobs and the 1/2 with a home made setup for a focus light. They are light, compact and work well for RIB diving as they don't get in the way as much as some of the other types. Quickly adjustable underwater and seem to hold position OK. They do squeak, as has been mentioned, underwater and occassionly have startled fish. Topside they won't support a strob in position but hold them well enough that the whole rig can be carried just using the two LocLine arms folded together. Arnon_Ayal 1 Posted October 29, 2007 I used 3/4 for YS25 strobe, its little overkill and the 1/2 probably is more the enough. A suggestion, use a cord inside the arm to tie the last piece to the base, its rare but the parts can be separate suddenly from a kick or so.
Timmoranuk 10 Posted October 29, 2007 (edited) I have YS-25s mounted on long (16 bobble) loclines and also focusing lamps on top of the stobes. They are very floppy topside but fine underwater. Edited October 29, 2007 by Timmoranuk
LyN 0 Posted October 31, 2007 I have used them for strobes and focus light. I even used a 'Y' piece to hold a strobe and a focus light on the same arm. I've found that putting a 1/2" arm inside the 3/4" arm, covered on a thin tube of latex to avoid noises and movement makes the arm quite stiffer. This is the 'Y' piece: Something like this:
