james 0 Posted November 26, 2007 Here's a photo I shot in San Diego over our Thanksgiving holiday - it's the mast of the Ruby-E. The model is my wife Sarah - on her first ocean dive using a drysuit. She did quite well! This was 57 degree water with 5-7 foot viz Tokina 17mm lens, Dual DS200's And here's one above the wheelhouse windows: Cheers James
JennyHuang 2 Posted November 28, 2007 Beautiful contrast of colours! Wonderful moodness!! Wish i can have my first drysuit diving in cold water someday.
Strmko 0 Posted November 28, 2007 (edited) Pretty much similar to the conditions we had on our last trip in Indonesia. Terrible visibility. I can not say I liked it, but the images look different, as Jenny said moody. And finaly I enjoed shooting in this green soup. Here are some samples. anthp 0 Posted November 28, 2007 Hey Martin - at least you saw a manta! James - I love that first image. The water looks fantastic and the anemones are very pleasingly lit.
james 0 Posted November 28, 2007 Thanks! Here's an image from inside the kelp - viz was <5' !!! What do you guys think of Sarah's awesome pink and green drysuit? Cheers James
sgietler 1 Posted November 28, 2007 nice job James! glad you could dive in our neck of the woods... when I saw dual DS200's, at first I thought you meant dual nikon D200's, I was thinking, how did you pull that off? btw, the Ruby is a great macro dive! lots of rare nudibranchs.. but you brought your wide-angle lens??? oh, never mind! scott
Christian K 0 Posted November 29, 2007 Thanks! Here's an image from inside the kelp - viz was <5' !!! What do you guys think of Sarah's awesome pink and green drysuit? Cheers James Personally, I think the shot from inside the kelp hands the other two you posted their ass on a plate... Very nice composition and light. Congratulations! That is one sexy suit cheers /christian
fotofish 0 Posted December 1, 2007 Thanks! Here's an image from inside the kelp - viz was <5' !!! What do you guys think of Sarah's awesome pink and green drysuit? Cheers James It looks great James. What brand is it? my girlfriend is going to want to know. You have some great shots here. how about posting some more? Have a great day and enjoy life Stephen
james 0 Posted December 1, 2007 Hi Stephen, Thanks! I'll tell Sarah so she has another point of view to the folks on the dive boat that laughed when she took the suit out of the bag (all guys) :-) Thanks for the Kudos - I'm really happy to have gotten a few good shots from this dive day - the viz certainly could have been better. Here's a photo from the Ruby E that I like - because it looks like multi-colored building blox: There are so many corynactix anemones! The hull is literally covered... And here's an image from the kelp - of some calico bass. You can see the backscatter in the water where the light reflected OFF OF the fish - crazy viz... vetdiver 8 Posted December 12, 2007 James - Beautiful shots, and your wife looks very at home in her lovely DS...one of my dive buddies here just bought a pepto pink one as a backup...I feel boring and colorless in my black and blue one... By the way, don't listen to SCOTT!!!!!! Macro macro macro.....yadda yadda yadda.... We're diving the Ruby E and El Rey this Sat, and the way the vis was shaping up this morning (30 ft during dawn dive at the Shores, pretty shocking after last week's wavefest), I was already seriously considering using my spanking-new WA lens. Your pics are further inspiration... Allison
james 0 Posted December 12, 2007 Yeah - there's no such thing at green water macro - it's just macro. How BORING! lol. Just kidding. Enjoy your dives - wish I could be there. James

vetdiver 8 Posted December 12, 2007 (edited) Awesome!! Well, that pic just reconfirms that I don't know what the hell I'm doing, no matter how many spanking-new lenses I buy!! Guess that means I have to keep getting up for dawn dives to practice. James, I'm always happy to do a charter, especially to the Ruby E (which we liken to a Rose Bowl float), will be on the lookout for your next visit. divinman 0 Posted December 20, 2007 So let's see the green water Allison!! I had a great time diving with you. WA rocks on a good day. As Scott says, "when the vis is low, go macro" Here is a couple from the dive. Vis inside the wreck wasnt too bad. Terry Green water looks better in B&W.
