markdhanlon 0 Posted December 11, 2007 Has anyone added a focus light mount to their Ikelite housings? I'm thinking about gluing a ULCS ball such as a BA-AQW (www.ulcs.com) to the top of the housing then attaching one of the focus light holders. Any suggestions for glue choice as I don't want to eat through or spiderweb the acrylic. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
derway 2 Posted December 12, 2007 I've glued stuff with silicon, to ike housings, and not had trouble. Would it hold enough torque for this though? Why not use a focus light bracket, coming over from a ball in one of the side handles? With a 3 way clamp...
Arnon_Ayal 1 Posted December 12, 2007 A better option (my opinion) will be the Ultralight Neck Ball adapter AC-NB
markdhanlon 0 Posted December 12, 2007 That neck ball adapter looks like it will work as it separates the movement of the focus light from the strobes. Thanks.
Cerianthus 55 Posted December 13, 2007 In a similar thread, I posted my setup (bottom of the thread). I reused the old tube arms and a mini C attachment. You can mount it on the screws at the bottom of the tray, or use a quick release bit if you use one strobe or dont use the QR. It's a bit klunky, but it works (you can aim the light properly) Keep in mind that the listed ULCS adapter mentions it doesnt attach to ikelite arms.

I used ProPoxy20 steel reinforced epoxy. We'll see if it holds ... I'm going diving either Sunday or Monday so I'll let you know if it lasts through the first dive ... Happy to report that the propoxy20 steel-reinforced epoxy has held up so far after three days of diving and my focus light has performed like a champ ... except when I couldn't get a focus lock on the cute little nurse shark I saw this morning sleeping under a ledge ... but my DIY mount works just fine! Not so happy ... I took the housing (with the DIY mount) out in the very cold air and it snapped right off with a very light bump ... Probably should have know better. rtrski 20 Posted January 23, 2008 CTE mismatches are a beech, ain't they? Sorry to hear that didn't work - was all set to doctor up my own Canon housing with a dunce cap, too...
