anthp 0 Posted January 9, 2008 Hey mate - I'm from Oz, but not really near you - Melbourne in fact. Had a WA great time tho - even proposed to soon to be wife at Margaret River.
TimG 62 Posted January 10, 2008 Hey Guys Trust a Canberran to chip-in.... I'm heading to Ningaloo all being well in May. What's the water temps like around then? Being a wussy Pom, if it ain't 28 degrees I'm in a dry suit.
Gudge 58 Posted January 10, 2008 Should be around 26 to 28°C but may get down to 23 to 24°C by the end of the month. May is the time when the water starts to cool down. This graph shows the water temperature as recorded by my dive computer from late 04 up to the beginning of May 07: I really must update it one day. I couldn't survive in Canberra these days, I'm orginally from right next door in Queanbeyan.
TimG 62 Posted January 10, 2008 (edited) Many thanks Gudge. So its tons of neoprene. Or my dry suit. Tough call. Survive Canberra eh? Hmm, well as a guest in town I couldn't possibly comment. It would be nice if it was nearer to good diving though. I keep wondering about giving my Subal a run out in Lake Burley Griffin. Gudge 58 Posted January 10, 2008 I only use a one piece 5mm wetsuit in the middle of winter with no hood or gloves and am very comfortable. This CSIRO web site is updated daily (most times) and will give you a good idea of what the water temperature will be closer to when you come over: http://www.marine.csiro.au/remotesensing/o...loo/latest.html

One piece 3 mill for me in 16% on the Swan Wreck - had a hood - a bit cold but not uncomfortable. Edited January 10, 2008 by donga
TimG 62 Posted January 11, 2008 Many thanks indeed, lads. I'll check out the CSIRO site nearer the time. But I think you Strines are tougher than we whimpy Mancunians. I reckon you guys are born with iced water in your veins But diving with a 5mm suit would be perfect. I may bring my 'ood and gloves though just in case. And a vest
blackbird 1 Posted January 11, 2008 I assume it will be a flat cap (ood) and string vest being Mancunian!
TimG 62 Posted January 13, 2008 Flat cap and string vest? Eeee, I used to dream about string vests. Mother used to crochet wire wool so we 'ad vests.
