Ryan 50 Posted May 6, 2008 (edited) We do stock the Nexus housing for the E-3, but do not buy it from the established USA channels of distribution, making it a gray market item. It is in the queue to be added to our public site... All this means is that our customers need to return their housings to us or Nexus Japan for repair work, not Nexus USA / Marine Camera Distributors. Helge Suess 0 Posted May 14, 2008 ... The grip can also be removed and used from a remote location via fiber optic cable. Should be interesting to see how this works in the real world. We had a plastic prototype at the BOOT. After a few changes we're now producing the first batch. I've assembled the electronic parts and the control works as expected (still in the topside prototype shell). The housing is queued for milling while I'm soldering the PCBs for the first series. The main goal was to allow tilting the grip (or the housing) while holding the controls comfortably single handed. The grip may be removed for transport and service. The remote feature was a give-away of the design. I'll post a report as soon as I'm diving it first time! Helge ;-)=)

EstebanTore 0 Posted June 9, 2008 (edited) The first olympus E3 were sold in November 2007. The seatool housing is coming on June 2008? I think seven month are too much time to wait. Now camera models are changing every year , if we have to wait so long we are one year back in cameras technologies. They should change their minds and do the housings with one month since the model is in stock. Edited June 9, 2008 by EstebanTore
ktwse 0 Posted June 14, 2008 The first olympus E3 were sold in November 2007.The seatool housing is coming on June 2008? I think seven month are too much time to wait. Now camera models are changing every year , if we have to wait so long we are one year back in cameras technologies. They should change their minds and do the housings with one month since the model is in stock. Only if you're the type of person who constantly needs the latest camera... The only potential issue would be if Oly were to replace the E-3 too soon. And again, it was four years between the E-1 and the E-3, with the former still capable of producing great results. The E-3 has an estimated shutter life of 150,000 exposures. As long as you're happy with the results you get from it, why wouldn't you invest in a housing for it? (Price issues aside - it would actually be cheaper for me to just get an E-520 and a housing for UW and use the E-3 topside.) There are rumours of a new Oly DSLR, small but weathersealed and with a new sensor. Apparently, according to thoe rumours, without internal flash. Guess that means no fiber optics? james 0 Posted June 28, 2008 Very cool Phil! That's an impressive popup flash window! Can't wait to hear what you think of it. I heard a rumor recently that Sony is building a camera around their monster FF sensor. I know the rumor's been going around - but this was legit. Pretty exciting!
