Dave H 0 Posted April 26, 2003 On two dives at my local divsite last week (Fly Point) I found some really unusual critters. If your interested in seeing an anglerfish, seahorse or a psychedelic nudibranch check these photo's out (9 images): Fly Point last week All images were taken with the CP5000 in Ike housing using a single ds125. Feel free to comment. 3 of the images are below:
Cybergoldfish 1 Posted April 26, 2003 Good work Dave, the Nudi is "Wicked" - I like the way it has folded it's mantle in order to go rigid!
kdietz 0 Posted April 29, 2003 excellent close-ups...........good detail and exposure............did you use the WC-68 or the native zoom? Karl

Dave H 0 Posted April 29, 2003 Karl, all the shots were taken with the standard lens. I tend not to use the 19mm unless I know I want to do wide angle photography and the visibility is good. My local divesite is very much 'macro' orinatated as my photo's show. here's a pics I took the other night that I like: Red Indian Fish

davephdv 0 Posted May 1, 2003 Love the seahorse. Interesting the depth of field on the Nudibranch. With the short focal length of the lens I would have thought that there would be a greater depth of field.
AengusM 0 Posted May 4, 2003 Dave, I reckon you should enter that Seahorse in the Sth Pacic Divers Photo Comp ! http://www.southpacificdivers.com/new_page_1.htm Superb shot ! Aengus
Dave H 0 Posted May 9, 2003 Here's a pic I took yesterday, I really like the colours of the Nudibranch. Settings: ISO 100, F8, 1/1000 and strobe 1/8 power. Chromodoris Collingwoodi
patriko 0 Posted May 9, 2003 Wonderful nudi-branches! I guess you where shooting in manual? I've tried aperature priority when shooting close-ups at them but even with the flash at 1/8 and retracted as much as possible the image become quite bright (not to mention if shooting TTL, then it becomes a completely white picture). kdietz 0 Posted May 9, 2003 Dave, nice macro work Your web site is also very well done.........good information on using the cp5000...........I'm thinking about adding something similar to my site........... Karl
mmb 0 Posted May 9, 2003 Very nice shots Dave, So you use standart lens for macro? I read that with the 19 mm you can shot 1:1 macro. Is´nt it? Mariano
Dave H 0 Posted May 11, 2003 I only put the 19mm lens on if I know that I am going to be shooting wide angle pics. The majority of my dives are macro related, due to poor vis and abundance of macro critters at my ocal sites. The standard Nikon CP5000 lens can produce 2:1 macro, the 19mm lens can achieve about 1:1 macro. This is why I stick with the standard. I always shoot in Manual mode, I have found that the image results are quite poor when using the automatic settings. Also, when shooting macro, makesure that you have turned down the strobe power to at least -2 in the camera speedlight settings. This should help overcome any over exposure. cheers. mmb 0 Posted May 12, 2003 Dave; I send you a question in other topic: "macro with 19mm" I shoot in Manual mode but the flash was in -1,3 thir could be the problem? Mariano
