Some reason, Anthis decided to supply M6 port (which was originally made for F4),instead of M5

(F100,F5,F6,D100,D70&D200)port & 6-5 adapter will be supplied. I still have M6 ports but, why ????

The M6 ports (for F4 housings) have larger inside diameter opening. Perhaps they choose this to accommodate the larger new Nikon lenses?

Can anyone provide translations for the four options?

Nexus now has 3 port sizes.

M4 - old F4 size

M5 - Master ports

New M6 for the larger lenses. The M6 is larger than the M5 Master & slightly smaller than the M4, old F4 size.

The M4 , F4 would require a larger housing to accommodate there size.

In Japan, Anthis will take orders for Nexus D300 from Feb 15. According to Anthis infomation, Anthis is flooded with inquiries about Nexus D300.

Nexus D300 will be displayed at PIE(PHOTO IMAGING EXPO 2008) in Tokyo, to be held in Mar 2008. I heard a rumor that Anthis is developing Straight Viewfinder. We may see Nexus Straight Viewfinder at PIE.

Also Seatool housing for D300(is scheduled to be available in late Feb) will be displayed at Diving Festival 2008, to be held in same place(Tokyo Big Sight).

I'm going to PIE & Diving Festival to see Nexus and Seatool housings for D300

Hi Ryan,

How does that make you feel?

BTW, Anthis start to accept orders for Nexus 1DsMK3,D3 and 40D in Japan.

http://www.anthis.co.jp/p01_2_information.html

I heard that Anthis stopped developing Straight Viewfinder, because they are busy developing for New housings. I also heard Anthis will adopt INON Straight Viewfinder following 45 Angle Viewfinder for Nexus housing.

The M4 , F4 would require a larger housing to accommodate there size.

The M-6 size will also allow room for the adapter rings for other manufactures ports. The Olympus E-3 housing has a ring to allow use of the Olympus, Inon and Athena ports for Olympus, (thirteen in all at this time).

Hi all,

According to information from my friend who visited Anthis last week, the followong modifications will be made;

・Hund grip....Hund grip become reduced in size

・Optical Connector....change built-in mirror to built-in prism

・Tray....The details are sketchy.

Anthis already start to product of Nexus D300. They have a few hundred of orders for Nexus D300 in Japan alone.

With the D300 being so similar to the D200 and the Nexus housing being at least somewhat similar between the two do you know if the glass back on the housing could be interchanged? It would seem a neat way to allow for upgrades, the back and the camera shoe being upgraded. Yes, would lose the larger port opening, but ...

ChasO2,

If you are not aware of it, Nexus d200 housing to d300 conversion has been discussed & is done already. Several people are already using it.

I'm not familur with SeaTool housings. What were they thinking with the internal flash design? It looks like you can use your pop-up flash with this housing? I'm not sure why you would want to use your pop up flash in a camera at this level. I haven't seen any of the other housing providers doing this. Maybe they are expecting that you could use it in commander mode in combination with a set of housed SB-800s? \

There are a lot of good TTL solutions on the market by now, and lots of good non-ttl options as well. I'm not sure that this is a good idea. I'm pretty happy that my Ikelite housing prevents my built-in flash from popping up. The dome shade seems to block the pop-up flash in the WA domeport, not that I would expect much performance from a pop-up flash for WA anyway.....

There is a macro port on the website that looks interesting, it incorporates its own diffuser at the end of the port to further diffuse the pop-up flash light, and maybe turn the corner to light a close subject. Its an interesting approach. I wonder if it works? I would be concerned about three things: 1) would the spillover light find its way back to light backscatter, 2) would there be enough light, 3) could you live with the inflexibility of only one way to light your macro subjects?

The housing build quality looks pretty solid though....

I imagine this would facilitate the use of fiber optic cables, a nice option.

to farther explain..........This allows the choice of using optic cables, or hard wired cables for external flash sync. Many folks are switching from hard wired to optic cables as a way of eliminating water entry points. You don't have to worry about flooded bulkheads on housing, strobes, or flooded sync cords. A big plus in my book. I believe you will see alot more housing manufactures giving us the option of either in their new housings, as Seatool has done here by offering BOTH with their D-300 housing.

JMHO....your mileage my vary! :)
