junior2725 0 Posted April 7, 2008 Please help me critique this image of a turtle from Cozumel. I have edited using photoshop raw. What are your thoughts. This was my first trip with my newly housed Canon 20D with dual DS-125 strobes. Ironically, I am now shooting with a Nikon D300, as my 20D was stolen shortly after coming home from the trip. loftus 42 Posted April 7, 2008 (edited) I think this is a very nice photograph, the only thing that bothers me a little is the fact that the right foreground is a little 'hot' and it draws my eye away from the main subject. I would burn this area in a little in PS. Edited April 7, 2008 by loftus
Lionfish43 0 Posted April 7, 2008 I think it's a very nice shot but I agree with Jeff, it's a little hot on the right. You need to be aware when your strobe is going to be very close to coral or the bottom. You probably could have repositioned the strobe so it was more over the top

I will definitely take that into account in the future. This was my first real usage of a dslr underwater and two strobes. I got to try it out a couple of times before my trip to Cozumel, but am still learning the system. I had never been drift diving before and found it really difficult to be able to think about switching too much around before taking a picture because I would burn too much air trying to stay in one place. Arnon_Ayal 1 Posted April 8, 2008 I agree with Jeff & Larry regarding the right side, also if it was possible a lower position of you was preferred. but its real a good image as is and taking it in a drift is a challenge.
