videodan 0 Posted April 12, 2008 Here is the picture they posted this morning.
videodan 0 Posted April 12, 2008 Forgot to mention that they said it is "basically" an EX1 with interchangeable lenses. No other major upgrades except for the viewfinder which is just a magnifier on the standard LCD. It will definitely require a monster sized housing for underwater shooting. Drew 0 Posted April 12, 2008 Hmm it seems once the news is out no one cares about NDAs anymore. It's frustrating when they tell you not to release this info yet never punish those who jump the gun while others who keep confidentiality lose out.: Here's some downsized shots from the EX3 from Phil Bloom: http://www.vimeo.com/879872 As for that pic Dan posted, here is the breakdown of the new equipment: PMW-EX30 XDCAM EX SxS Card Deck: 2 card slots, 3.5 " LCD display,Downconversion to SD, HDMI output. PHU-60K SxS Professional 60GB HardDisc Recorder : connects via an SxS lead.

jonny shaw 16 Posted April 13, 2008 How big would the housing be to fit that puppy! You would need a crane to get it in the water. Here's Phils review too http://www.philipbloom.co.uk/Philip_Bloom/XDCAMEX3.html J [Edited by moderator for link]
wagsy 0 Posted April 16, 2008 Well here is a great video on the new EX3 http://www.vimeo.com/882030 Maybe a housing with an LCD window in it like the Phenom would be wonderful. On my last 2 shoots it enabled me to get wonderful shots/angles because of it. External LCD monitors on housings are a pain.
Drew 0 Posted April 16, 2008 Well let's find out who wants to make a housing for this camera first.
DeanB 19 Posted April 16, 2008 External LCD monitors on housings are a pain. Better than a bleeding little view finder believe me !!!! What I'd give for a monitor at times... Is the EX3 better than the EX1 in anyway aprt from the lens option ??? otherwise a smaller housing for similar / same pic quality would win hands down... DeanB 19 Posted April 17, 2008 Yes to what....??? Amphibico have said they are looking into making a housing for the EX3 for the end of this year !!!! Dive safe DeanB
Mike L 0 Posted April 18, 2008 I attended NAB this year and took as best a look at the EX3 as I could, given the Sony booth was more crowded than I had seen it the last 3 years Ive attended. Although the EX3 looks to be a phenomenal camera, it really looks to be too big in size to be desirable for underwater use. Many have complained over the size of housings for the FX1/HVX200, etc...and this one would likely be even larger. Im excited to get the EX1 underwater this summer. Jules (Helioxfilm) 1 Posted February 14, 2009 As far as I know, Amphibico will make a housing for the EX3... That should be a very-very nice piece of art...
DeanB 19 Posted February 15, 2009 As far as I know, Amphibico will make a housing for the EX3... That should be a very-very nice piece of art... Has it got lanc then ??? I feel the power of the Wags meister coming... But then 'no' as he hates solid state...Hmmmm Dive safe Dean(neutral in his views)B
wagsy 0 Posted February 16, 2009 It has a lanc which is good. Yes they are looking into making one and yes I will be hanging on to the old FX1 for abit more yet. Off on another shoot in the morning with it actually. Yesterday I was pulling a 50 gig edit from a 120 gig Barracuda drive that I had storded in my cubboard for the last 12 months. I managed to get all the files off it to my computer but it was touch and go there for awhile. Had to file up the project from the failing drive and encode out the files I could not copy from the drive and got around it that way. If you are saving raw video footage to just one drive you are asking for it.

pmooney 6 Posted February 16, 2009 Hey Guys , All this talk of LANC is news to me. My understanding is the EX3 has the same 8 pin remote as the EX1. DeanB 19 Posted February 16, 2009 Im sure that when i first spoke to Amphibico months ago they said they didn't have any intention of making a housing for the EX3 because of this reason... But i like my 'occasional' jovial banter with Wags and he has 'friends' and 'inside connections' with them so maybe he knows something we don't...
