jrrkar 0 Posted April 18, 2008 I'm looking at starting a web based photo buisness (small time) for underwater photos, custom prints and other items as well. I was looking for any advice for settting up the website in order to order the items. I know some people have their prints hosted on a printers website and the printer takes the orders, prints/ships and sends you the extra fees. But I was looking to setup something that you could pull up an item, click the size and quantity and then the order is emailed to me to process. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I honestly am not as interested in selling my photos as I am interested in writing off all my gear and dive trips off on my taxes. Thank you uncle sam for the trip to lembeh by the way. I accidentally got a couple of pictures on display at the monteray bay aquarium and got the idea to start a business. Business laptop, camera, gear, and a couple of trips a year make for a nice topper to the 1040. Home office is a great write off if you can dedicate a spare bedroom. You just have to show a profit two years out of seven I think. I am looking for an easy web site builder that I can post a few to justify my business as legit. Did you give that site a try, and what did you think of it if you did? It looks pretty easy and nice looking. There are thousands of web builders out there that are all in a similar price range. Three years out of every five is the popular test. Though significant or steady losses with little profit after the first couple of years will likely invite an audit anyway... stewsmith 14 Posted May 7, 2009 I use clikpic to host my images. I have a few issues with the site set up. firstly the maximum size of the images from memory is only 500 in the longest dimension, although that may have been increased recently when they had a software update. Viewing portrait style images is not very good either, as the page layouts are not too clever. Having said that, i have not really had much time to change any of the default settings, so it could be user error there. I have just started reading " CSS web design for dummies " and " HTML for dummies " so after finishing them I might have a better understanding of what I need to do to get my pages looking good.
