diverdon 1 Posted May 6, 2008 Like most aspiring under water photographers I have always wanted my own website. Now I am well and truly started on my website. It is by no means done, and the progress is slow but I have something up and both I and my webmaster Jovelyn would appreciate your comments and suggestions. Few remarks: - The images and even the thumbnails are loading very slow. - The black-green-orange color schema is to 'noisy' to me but that a question of the person's preferences. - When selecting image you are pointed put of the site's scope, better to open new pop-up window or some gallery mechanism that let you navigate between the images and return up. cor 0 Posted May 7, 2008 Hi diverdon, very cool that you're making your own website. And very brave that you're opening it up for criticism. I agree with Arnon that the choice of colors isnt working well. The bright orange and green and too contrasty with the black. But I also realize this is a very subjective issue. My main suggestion is therefore more of a practical matter. Your thumbnails are not actually thumbnails. You're just letting the browser resize the image. This is why they load slow, and it causes people to unnecessarily download too much data. It would be better to create thumbnails for your images and use those. Also, create some cropped images for your top header so that turtle and christmas tree worm dont look distorted. In the long run it may be better to check out some photo gallery software that does all this for you. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
diverdon 1 Posted May 23, 2008 Thanks for the Ideas. I have changed the Green and Orange things. I have reduced the thumbnails so they load quickly. Further I added a larger sice for many of the pics and have made other enhancements to improve functionality. Again I appreciate the ideas you guys gave me.
