Patima G-9 Housing

Recommended Posts

Does any one have any experience with Patima PDCH housing for the Cannon G-9? I was going to buy the Ikelite housing but saw that the Patima housing and it’s depth rating fits my needs better. Does anyone have any feedback on this housing and who sells it?

I was unaware of the Patima G9 offering... http://uwcam.com/eng/rd/sub3_1.html

I'd certainly like to know if they are being exported to UK / Europe.

What kind of diving do you do and where (if you don't mind sharing)?

I dive wrecks along the Mid-Atlantic from MD to the Carolinas and make my way to south FL as well. Many of the sites are below recreational depths and this is the only non DSLR housing that I can find on the market that is rated for use below 200ft.

Here is there Patima’s website.

Hello

I own the Patima housing.

I just come back from Palau where I was able to use it during 25 dives.

It's a wonderful housing , very simple to manage above and underwater , perfectly design , but a little heavy underwater.

More heavy if you add the Inon 100uwl lense that I guess you want to use with , and more more heavy if you use the dome with the lense .

It's his only defaut .

But I'm a woman , and I think that for a man it could be easist.

You can buy it in France at :

http://www.photo-denfert.com/boutique/inde...6&Itemid=26

or in Taiwan , less expensive and in a very good shop :

http://www.divervision.com/catalog/product...products_id=767

There is also a little vignetting in the left corner when used with the small port and the Inon 100 uwl , but it's really négligeable .

Hope this help

Hi,

Patima has been making Compact & DSLR housing for many years now and produced over 2,000 housings. I am using a d80 housing & I like it & had no problem. In US, Ryan at Reefphoto (-> Sponcer here) carry & supply Patima products according to its website.

I've now looked at all the www sites and clearly the Patima is a very capable housing and must be in the same class as the Sea & Sea G9 housing.

But I've made a decision to halt any further investment in G9 specific hardware because soon I'll be sorely tempted by a G10...

If I were upgrading today from my DX 8000G, I guess I'd have to take a very hard look at this housing.

He he he he... Sorry Jeremy, I guess that was bait! But in all seriousness, the G9 will be obsolescent before we know it and a '18 megapixel G10' will be the next 'must have'...
