Canon 1Ds MkII Digital SLR

anyone know if this is still the camera that echeng uses? or has he moved on to the MKIIIs?

 

the photos he took with his mkII are just amazing... i think that's the camera i want to get when i saved up enough money.

 

Or do you guys have any suggestions for any cameras that are of equal quality?

The 1DsMkII is a great camera - I just used mine for 2 weeks in the Philippines and enjoyed the results. It's a big camera and takes some getting used to, but it's professionally built and weather sealed w/ a BIG battery.

Eric put his mkII up for sale awhile ago and upgraded.

 

There's a lot more to photography than just a great camera. If you have to wait and save for a 1DsII, you are probably better off getting in the water earlier with a lesser camera.

One of the guys I used to work with took his kid to a CART race. His son just happened to be pointing his little Oly point and shoot at a corner just as one of the cars overshot into the sand and flipped over. He got some incredible shots and, in fact, was asked by one of the pros if he'd consider selling the shots so the pro could get his story in. Goes to show that luck and/or a good eye can trump an expensive camera.

By the way, my most well-known image was taken with a Canon D60. D60 bodies are going for around $300 on eBay.
