Natalie_S 1 Posted February 25, 2010 Pinnacle's sizing is off on their stretchy suits. I had an older non-stretchy Pinnacle that fit like a glove; the same size/thickness suit in the Elastoprene line (same measurements in the size charts, and my measurements haven't changed) has a huge waist, enough to fit someone with a belly like the Pillsbury Doughboy, so the suit has big folds in the stomach area when I sit down. However, their neck seals have vastly improved, so that I'm toasty warm in the new suit because I no longer have any water coming in through the neck seal. YMMV
Drew 0 Posted February 25, 2010 I just emailed my dealer and he told me that all you need to do to order the custom suits is fill in the attached form and send it to your dealer. My dealer charges $50 per alteration (sleeves or pant legs). Pinnacle's office is still in CA and not at Zeagle HQ. Maybe there will be a rebranding later but for now Pinnacle is still in CA. I think the problem with Pinnacle sizing is that their manufacturer in China may have gone with Asian sizing which is generally 1 size back (ie: M = L in asian size). I also think the quality control isn't all that great since the sample variance I experienced is pretty varied. Still the Merino does work but it doesn't matter if the wetsuit doesn't fit right. echeng 0 Posted February 25, 2010 Thanks, Drew! My suits are going back today. I'll re-order once I get proper measurements done. The Bare Velocity Progressive suit I got is 5/4mm and fits like a glove. It's also strangely easy to put on. I've been told that a Bare wetsuit may not last as long as a Pinnacle, but it was a lot cheaper and fits perfectly.
Drew 0 Posted February 25, 2010 Eric, just drive out to Livermore and try out the wetsuits there. It's easier than playing UPS/Fedex Pong with the dealers.
echeng 0 Posted February 25, 2010 Good idea. I'll make it a Wetpixel party. Anyone want to go?
davephdv 0 Posted February 26, 2010 I really like the Pinnacle suits. But the sizing is iffy. I always try them on before buying. I might be allergic to neoprene so I really like the wool lining.
echeng 0 Posted February 26, 2010 I found the inner stitching on the 3mm to be quite sharp against my skin (didn't feel anything with the fatter white stitching on the 5mm). I'm worried that it would be uncomfortable over time. Anyway, it looks like I'm going to have to go to Livermore sometime to try on a bunch of wetsuits. Drew 0 Posted February 26, 2010 Or you could send them the wetsuit measurements first, have them select a few then go? Would save you a lot of trying on stuff. You just pay for the privilege
