scubamarli 5 Posted January 29, 2009 As it is the time of Chinese New Year, and in Vancouver and other major centres in Canada there is a large Chinese population, one of the major grocery chains decided to sell shark fin soup. After some email protests, the following response to the positive occurred. Once again, don't think that nothing will happen with large companies when you protest. This is a major player in the Canadian market. They listened, and took decisive action that cost money, to appease those that pointed out the environmental impact. I don't usually shop at their stores, but I think I may start. http://oceanicdefence.blogspot.com/2009/01...tores-make.html Cheers, Marli
photovan 0 Posted January 29, 2009 Wow, great to hear that you can make a difference. Given that are working with MSC, it seems that in-general they must be trying to take a responsible approach. It's a bit ironic... but publicity over the sale and withdrawal will raise community awareness of the issue more than if they hadn't sold it in the first place.
