need to get my camera to recycle flash faster

i have a sea and sea dx 8000g camera with two strobes ys27 sea and sea. i found that the camera flash recycle time is 13 seconds on the camera. i need to speed this up to film tiger sharks in the bahamas. i thought of turning my flash off, but really think i need it for color. what do you think?

Your strobe will work out to only 5 or 6 ft. So if you are shooting a subject further away then it will make little if any difference.

 

Is it the strobe or the camera flash that are recycling too slow? The camera flash is way to weak and way to close to the lens to be of any value for anything other than close-ups or macro.

 

If the camera flash is necessary to fire the external strobe can you turn the power of the camera flash down to the minimum amount possible?

Sorry, if you click on the blue words Magic Filter in the above post it will take you to the website. Lots of good info there explaining how they work. Dr. Alex Mustard developed them to shoot in relatively shallow water ( less than 50ft) without strobes.
