xariatay 1 Posted March 19, 2009 (edited) The dive guide, Ketut found these 3 critters at Coral Garden, Tulamben, Bali. Please advise what they are. Common names & also scientific names would be nice! Thanks in advance! Pipehorse? Pipehorse? Pipehorse? Fish? secretsea18 0 Posted March 19, 2009 The first pipehorse looks just like the one that was first seen in Lembeh and recently described at Lembeh Resort. I am sorry but do not know the name.
segal3 0 Posted March 19, 2009 First fish is some species of fangblenny, and the second is a dragonet, perhaps juvenile depending on the size?
scubamarli 5 Posted March 19, 2009 (edited) Actally it is not the Lembeh pipehorse, but a Short-pouch pygmy pipehorse: Acentronura tentaculata. (I have just found out that it and A. breviperula are one and the same. There is another similar one, A. gracilissima, but it has obvious skin tags all over. First fish looks like a Variable fang blenny, and the second a Juvie fingered dragonet. Cheers, Marli Edited March 19, 2009 by scubamarli
xariatay 1 Posted March 20, 2009 Wow! Many Many thanks! The juvenile fingered dragonet was abt 15mm, it was jumping underneath the rocks. The fang blenny was abt 4cm, was cool as cucumber. The short pouch pygmy pipehorse looked like a rubberband & was frail.
