hiloboy 3 Posted April 25, 2009 We are on a dive trip and my wife's Fuji F30 stopped working. It says card full when the memory card is empty. I tried reformatting the card, changing out cards, resetting the camera, removing the camera battery with no luck. Any suggestions?
rtrski 20 Posted April 25, 2009 I assume all this testing is with the camera not in a housing, so a stuck button or misalignment of camera to housing isn't pushing any button combinations accidentally? Assuming above is correct, then I wouldn't have any ideas. Did the camera get wet at all? Salt corrosion doesn't need much to start (that said, I've been fairly casual about the occasional water droplet with my cameras over the years and been pretty lucky). Is the camera newer? A lot of consumer electronics these days either suffer infant mortality (failure very quickly after being put into use) or go forever...so it might not even be 'environmentally' related. Does it have internal memory? Could it just not be registering the cards at all in the socket, and reporting its internal memory is full? Wish I could help more. A quick search finds lots of comments about XD compatibility issues with the Fuji, and issues with external card readers or computer reformatting vs. in-camera reformatting. But nothing specifically matches what you describe.
ce4jesus 1 Posted April 25, 2009 I know my old P&S had some internal memory as well as a card slot. It wouldn't automatically select the card when storing and was a manual function. If set incorrectly it would read "memory full" even though the card was empty. So if your Fuji is similar make sure it is reading the card and not internal memory. hiloboy 3 Posted April 25, 2009 Thank you both for your replies. Luckily, I figured it out! The error message was not memory card full but something about number full? So on my menu I have a number reset which solved the problem. Thanks again!
