Fontaine 0 Posted May 8, 2009 Hello, I would love it if you guys could give me some constructive criticism. Ive been taking UW pics for about two years and am a keen amateur/novice, and would love to hear some advice to get my brain thinking about improvement. Heres three semi random shots: This was taking snorkelling in the Galapaos, with an Olympus Stylus 700 point and shoot with an Inon WA fish eye lens 165. This was taken in Tobago, with the same point and shoot except with an inon macro lens, sea and sea ys-27 strobe, and a focus light. Taken in Galapagos, with the same set up as the second shot. ce4jesus 1 Posted May 8, 2009 I like the seal pic although I'd crop out the blown out highlights on the surface in the upper left and the piece in the lower left. The shrimp photo seems a bit soft. The last photo is nice. I like how sharp it is and its a nice perspective on a starfish.

I never would have thought the shrimp was soft until you said it... thanks for getting the brain gears cranking! Cheer, Fontaine
sgietler 1 Posted May 10, 2009 I like the 1st 2 shots a lot. The shrimp shot, turning it into a diagonal composition and getting even closer and lower could have been interesting. but I like it as is. The last shot didn't work for me as much, were you trying an artistic shot? the bottom hot-spot is a distraction for me, perhaps you can try "filling the frame" with the starfish next time, just a thought. hope this helps, Scott
diverdon 1 Posted May 11, 2009 I would be proud to claim the first Picture. Good composition Good color Interesting subject conveys a scene of fun and zesty motion. If you have the raw you might wish to try to finesse the blown highlights at the top--- JMHO
