shchae 3 Posted July 3, 2009 (edited) It is interesting that you are using FP170 with M6/M5 adapter. I will post a picture showing why I could not use it with adapter. Sam First picture shows M6/M5 adapter surface where o-ring of dome port meets. As you can see it is tappered. Second picture shows surface of FP160 which is flat. it does not match. If adapter I have is old/wrong one than, please, somebody tell me so. Sam Edited July 3, 2009 by shchae

Sam Perhaps it us FP160 port specific. I will check with manufacturer tomorrow and comeback. We sold few ND300 housings used same adapter with Tokina 10-17 port and it was all ok. cheers
FrenchFrog 0 Posted July 3, 2009 Real quick because I have no time now but I had the exact same problem than Sam with FP 170. Bought the D300 M6 housing, no M6 port were available at the time, they sent me the adapter and an M5 170, I received 2 days before leaving for Cocos, once in Cocos when I put it together (as no time before departure), it was not a leak but a flood, thank god in the fresh water tank with no camera (I have learned a few things from reading wetpixel, LOL :-)). Was told by Marine Camera that Nexus had not told them about the problem. Do they have a new adaptor now? or does it depend of the M5 serie port? or something else? It would be nice if there is a new adaptor now because I would love to put on a bigger diameter glass port. We shall see. I feel your pain Sam :-) Sylvie

Problem is with FP160,170 or 230. Sam

Sam Hi Sam, I do "feel your pain" with all these various Nexus port sizes. I sold my F4 master housing and ports when telecom and my job when south in '01. I now have a D80-M5 housing and fitting the "flat tire" HSM lenses is a pain. I have the new 170 dome port. The newer port has an offset on the mount. I'll scope it out when I get home this evening and compare it to your 160 port shot. Bob
Vettediver 0 Posted July 6, 2009 Sam: I purchased a Nexus D 300 M6 housing over a year ago along with a FP 160 M5 dome port. It came with the M5/M6 adaptor because there were no M6 ports available at that time. The only way to use a FP 160- M5 dome port with this setup was to use at least a 10mm port extension. By the time that the M6 ports came out Nexus was aware of the problem with the FP 160 M5 dome port and the M5/M6 adaptor so they exchanged my FP 160 M5 for a FP 160 M6 free of charge. Regards; GWB
shchae 3 Posted July 9, 2009 Hi, I think using 10mm extension can be a good option & you are lucky that your dome as exchanged. Sam
jcclink 8 Posted July 9, 2009 (edited) Sam - sorry if I mislead you, but it looks like I failed to mention the I always use the FP170 port with an extension ring. Not direct attachment to adapter ring. With ring all is ok. (40mm for 12-24mm zoom & 20mm for 10-17 zoom). Not sure that I've ever tried to mate the 170 directly since I don't use that configuration. As you correctly point out the port mating flange contacts the taper on the adapter, & the o-ring doesn't contact anything. Not good. unlis 0 Posted August 11, 2009 Apparently Nexus Japan has obliged an exclusive dealer in Asia (www.fun-in.com.tw) a run of only 8 white colour (gasp!) housing for the Nikon D700. Other runs is the original champagne silver. Guess the Japs are fascinated with white wetsuits, white fins and white mask and everything white. I will post the pictures once I get my hands on them. And before anyone label me as a mouthpiece for a commercial shop, let me state officially that I'm not. Just happened to stumble onto the news when I purchased a fisheye port from the dealer for me D90 housing. Finally, first Nexus for D700 arrived to Singapore. Standard color, Only 2 opto bulkheads were ordered, but 2 more in option. Yes, it is M4 size. Nice, compact, lightweight.. I am thinking to move from D200 to D700
