PT-015 O-Rings

Recommended Posts

Olympus discontinued parts for the PT-015 housing for the 5050. Anyone know where some are available, or know of a compatible replacement part? I have one set of good (but very old) seals, and heading underwater next month...looking for at least one new set.

Thank you very much! This covers all the smaller o-rings.

However, I did not see (or just missed) the very long o-ring seal for the front and back of the enclosure (uses a pair of them to seal back cover). Any suggestions? Thanks again...

I may have a couple at home. I'm out of town but will take a look when I get back.

When I was shooting a 5050 the main o-rings were easy to get, so I didn't worry about the sizes. The control seals have always been hard to find, until someone took time to measure all the small ones & make the listing above. Most folks had Olympus service their housing. Sorry, but no size info on big o-rings.

I was in your position a few years back and ended up buying the o-rings listed above. The problem is that you have to buy so many so I decided to sell 'kits' for $5 to recoup my costs. It was a fun project; I got to talk with people all over the world. But there aren't a lot of people using this housing any more so you will be stuck with a lot of o-rings you can't use.

I have a set of them (just the ones used for the buttons and dial) if you want; just email me your address. They are getting old but have been stored in a cool, dark area. I just looked at them and they appear fine but remember, you get what you pay for :P Also, here is a web site of instructions on replacing them:

Ben, I'd be interested in buying one of those kits from you if you have any more left...just let me know. I got a Canon 40D last year and it flooded, so I'm trying to use my old Oly for the time being.

B-order, if you find a place to buy the big o-rings for the back of the housing, can you post here, or else pass the info on to me? I was going to trade my c5050 in on the Olympus site towards another of their cameras (they're running a trade-in promotion right now), but they were only going to give me $13 for it! And that's with all the cables, manual, CD, etc! Then when I called them today about getting new o-rings for the housing, I was really frustrated when they said, "Well, the camera's 7 years old..." The technician was very nice and helpful, but I told him that I won't be purchasing anything else from Olympus because they don't support their products long enough.
