Let's hope for similar from 'The End of the Line' Edited June 17, 2009 by Timmoranuk
Drew 0 Posted June 17, 2009 Err no offense to Mike but the WWF and other organizations had been campaigning and doing all sorts of surveys since 1998 to give the Indian government verification of the fact that the whale shark was an endangered species and it was protected in 2001. In fact, WWF and other NGOs continued to educate the Gujarati population on the whalesharks to fight against the poachers. Let's not forget to credit the NGOs who really facilitated the groundwork for the legislation.
Walt Stearns 50 Posted June 17, 2009 Interesting, I vividly remember seeing a documentary with a bulk of the same footage, same story line, different narrator back in mid 90's. If was the same cinematographer then, then his film work may have been what helped get the ball rolling.
xariatay 1 Posted June 22, 2009 Have watched it at underwaterchannel too. Very touched. Interesting that they now have a Whaleshark Day & a spiritual guru joined the campaign & helps persuade his followers not to hunt the whalesharks. Things work differently in different places...
