chrispak1962 0 Posted July 14, 2009 Well used my new Hugyfot d90 house with new flash from Sea& Sea for the first time underwater. Used only the 50 mm macro 2.8 lens from Sigma but i am not happy with that lens anymore. Because of the crop factor 50 mm is not working out as in the old days. So i am thinking of the 35 mm macro from Tokina as new macro lens. Is this lens a bet ter solution for me ??????????
DanInSoCal 0 Posted July 14, 2009 As someone who has shot dedicated macro as well as "regular" photographs, your question confuses me. Question: what are you trying to shoot? The longer the macro lens, the longer your working distance at 1:1. If you are trying to shoot really small things, then I would go 100-150mm. OTOH, if you are looking for more of a general purpose lens, why insist on a macro lens? I've heard wonderful things about the Tokina 10-17 Fisheye underwater, as a general-purpose lens, due to its insane close-focus capabilities. Regards, Dan

Regards, Dan For sure i will invest in a 10-17 mm Tokina or in a new 10-20 mm 3.5 from Sigma. But i also wants a lens like my old 50 mm from Sigma so i was thinking about the 35 mm from Tokina. Because when you put it on a D90 from Nikon its a 52 mm marco lens. So are there people who us this lens and can you please show me some photos or comments about this lens. Good choice or not???????? Is it the coverage angle (then the 35 might be OK) or the IQ (then it depends obviously). As pointed out previously, if you are shooting tiny stuff, then any lens that goes 1:1 will do fine. What I don't like about the sigma is that it focuses so loudly that it scares fish. Bill
