cozumeldogs 0 Posted July 27, 2009 Looking for some help here. I am helping out a friend here in Mexico who is looking for a 200-300 dollar camera and housing. He previously had a cannon but the housing leaked and so the system is toast. I have seen ads for Intova system on Ebay. The price is good (150). I have never heard of the camera. Does anybody know anything about this brand. Any suggestions would be appreciated(open to suggestions on other camera systems). The guy is mainly going to shoot available light and looking for something in th 5 Pix or above range. thanks.

I'd go for a used system or check out the sea life mini which would be better than anything Intova offers.
JackConnick 76 Posted July 27, 2009 Olympus has a refurb FE360 and new PT-044 housing available at very special pricing. Also theres the newer version FE-3010 and PT-046. Both are very good UW cameras/housings for the money. Jack

surfsupcorp 1 Posted July 31, 2009 You should take a look at ikelite's camera and housing package for the Nikon L20 camera. It is a neat setup only $390. The benefit to ikelite is that you will have the opportunity to add a wide angle lens like the w-20 and a strobe such as the af35 if you decide you enjoy taking pictures underwater. He had a Cannon set up but the housing leaked and that was the end of the camera. While the cannon system worked he was very happy with it.
ce4jesus 1 Posted August 4, 2009 Joe, I apologize if I mistated something above. It would be nice if Intova produced a link to underwater photos taken with the camera. IE full size images that could be examined. There are ample photos, for example, for most other cameras on here and there are places such as www.dpreview.com that give a somewhat independent evaluation of the cameras. So you've been making them since 1995, but there's a real lack of independent information out there concerning your product. The images I've seen from amateurs on other sites, and a purchase years ago of a 5MP version, have lead me to not recommend any of your cameras. It would probably be worth your effort to contact one of the pros on this site, or any other, and loan some cameras for testing. If this has already been done, posting a link to the results and write up would be nice. Thanks!
CerealKilla808 0 Posted October 25, 2009 Few months later but I recently bought one out of impulse for my girlfriend to take on our dives. They have a new SP8 that has a separate housing you can buy which is only like $70 that allows you to reach ~130. Here are a couple shots I took today with it. I was a really clear day on the Kona side of the Big Island. Resized 1600x1200 (PM me if you would like a full resolution photo) 10-12' distance Photo (Underwater Sport mode) Underwater Macro Mode (Not too bad) Underwater Sport Mode Cropped 5-6' distance photo
