NeptunesTrident 0 Posted August 22, 2009 (edited) Critique and Comments welcome "Should have swung the strobe arm out wider for the shot below "to limit backscatter", but I was still happy with the result" Edited August 22, 2009 by NeptunesTrident
stewsmith 14 Posted August 22, 2009 To my eyes the first and last ones work the best. good colours and loghting. The second one could do with a bit of cleaning up regarding the suspended particles. The diver in the back ground takes my eye from what I am meant to be looking at in the third. the fourth one would have been a nice shot except the right hand strobe doesnt seem to have been positioned to light up the face of the fish and the second to last one would have been better if the background had a bit of blur to it so the viewers eyes are not distracted. But what do I know. Stew
NeptunesTrident 0 Posted August 22, 2009 Thanks for the tips. On the second image, I didn't swing the arm far enough out to eliminate backscatter. I have another image of the sheephead / reef taken a few seconds later, in which I did position the strobe right and also the diver is out of the image. Totally agree about your comments on the Tree fish "fourth image" and fifth image. Thanks again.
sgietler 1 Posted August 22, 2009 thanks for posting photos from one of my favorite dive sites. Nice rosy rockfish photo (the last one). All the photos are very solid, nice work. Going forward you might want to play around with more innovative compositions, such as getting lower, filling the frame, shooting straight on, etc.. hope this helps, Scott
