shawnh 0 Posted August 26, 2009 Our friend Tony Wu captured some very powerful imagery and told the story of his encounter with a humpback whale tangled in long-line fishing gear. The outlook for this unfortunate whale is grim. For every marine mammal caught in fishing gear, probably very few are actually discovered. All the rest die slow painful deaths somewhere out of sight. Yet another consequence of modern fishing methods. Take a read: "These are the sad pictures showing the desperate plight of a whale trapped in a fishing line. The female humpback can be seen struggling to swim after the line pinned her pectoral fins to her side making it hard for her to move. Sharks surrounded the whale waiting for her to tire enough to launch an attack."
