St. Vincent - Yellow Sea Star

Recommended Posts

Found in 35ft, within turtle grass bed. Size appox 1 inch / 2.5 cm across. Quick mover!

Can't find in the ID books that I have. I am assuming that this if fully grown? In 7 years of diving in St. Vincent I have not seen one of these before...

Little yellow sea star

Thank you,

Kay Wilson, Indigo Dive, St. Vincent.

Hi Kay - I've sent this to our echinoderm curator, Gordon HEndler, who wrote the book on carib echinoderms. Incidentally, the little crustacean in the photos preceeding the star is a podocerid amphipod.

Leslie,

Thank you so much. It's great after so long to find stuff that is new to me, and quite a shock to find stuff that is new to you! Thanks for the ID on the funny little creatures, I have updated my picasaweb gallery accordingly! Thank you again.

All the best,

Kay.
