"Apparently there's not too much ill effect to the fish itself except it's lost its tongue."

Any one else laugh out loud at that :)

Well I did laugh a bit at the scientist interviewed on local TV ( this was found on a weaver fish here in the Channel Islands ).

This scientist during the interview suggested that he felt very sorry for the fish in the situation - well - so sorry in fact that he had it seems he had to kill it in the interest of science.

Face facts the weaver fish ( not much loved locally to be honest ) was having a real bad day with the acquisition of the parasite - then the scientist rucks up and kills it. That was a bad day.

I don't think they're that rare - you see then in flying fish in the gulf all the time. Lots of people know about them on the east coast - they even have a name for that fish - "Bug Head"

But "rare" sounds better :-)

Cheers

^ Whoa! Amazing pic dude. There's something eerie about the way it's just sitting in there, looking out at the world.

James: 'rare' also sounds safer for some reason :).

The 'rare' bit was I believe due to its location this far north and in UK waters.

Previously the parasite had only been seen in the med.
