North Carolina Sand tiger D90, two Z-240's, Nexus, Tokina 10-17. what makes it special for me, it was my first day with the DSLR underwater (not counting pool testing). I've been conducting a documentary on the Blue Heron Bridge for the last 2 years, seen a lot of incredible creatures there. This one is without a doubt one that I can't get out of my head. bentoni 1 Posted January 2, 2010 For what it's worth, I guess this is my favorite underwater image from 2009. It looks very nice in color, but a bit more dramatic in B/W, i think. I shot this in Bonaire at Angel City where there is a double reef. I must confess the other images posted in this thread are quite humbling. Happy new year to all! Dive safely. Hi Loftus, I believe Pot-belly Seahorses are one of the largest species of Hippocampus found in the world. In the southern extremities of their range in Tasmania they can get to 35cm in length. The ones we have here in Port Phillip Bay don't get that large but this one, a mature male, was around 25cm in length at a guess. It´s the eye of a Flounder taken not far from where i live at only 3 meters of water in strong current and big waves so it was quite a challenge to keep focus. This was my first and only time having the chance to dive with sea lions and it was a dive that I'll never forget. We were entertained by nearly a dozen of the playful pinnipeds and it was a riot to watch their antics. The weather cooperated too which was an added bonus! Anyway .. not being in my normal home of Grand Cayman very much at the start of the year (due to certain immigration reasons) I missed out on the first half, then I bought my 5d mkii and have been scared of using the D60 for sake of me wanting to smash it to pieces (just no comparison once you have tasted the 5d) So it turns out the only underwater photos I took this year were with my Olympus point and shoot at Stingray City. This is my favourite from all of my trips out there purely because it was the best day ever (a week or two later we were snorkeling with a dolphin not too far from Stingray City too, but that photo isn't mine. Stingray City - Giles Shaxted oh and just for shits and giggles to show off that the dolphin is real (in Grand Cayman) here is the photo of him as it is a freakin special day when you get 45 minutes play time with a wild dolphin in Grand Cayman. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
