scubamarli 5 Posted January 20, 2010 Hi all, After many frustrating issues, my new website is up, with lots of new photos from Indonesia and B.C., and reworking of some of my old favorites. It will probably be tweaked from time to time with new additions as they are processed. Marli Wakeling Underwater & Nature Photography Cheers, Marli

JackConnick 75 Posted January 21, 2010 Worked fine for me. Looks to be flash? Maybe you're behind a firewall or don't have the plug-in? Looks fine Marli, nice shots and info. Jack
Steve Williams 0 Posted January 21, 2010 Worked great for me Marli. I really like the featured photos section and the way it works. The gallery split is cool with the verticals. It took me a while to figure out how to get through the images though. I found myself wishing there was a way to go back to the beginning of the selected gallery faster instead of scrolling slowly through the images again. Just a nit though. Very, very nice images. Congrats on getting it finished. Cheers, Steve

scubamarli 5 Posted January 21, 2010 Thanks, everyone for the nice comments. It is flash based, and so it is best viewed with the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. If you use Firefox and their Ad Block Plus add on, it causes issues (which I discovered when I was building it). I also changed some colours after comments from a friend that uses a Mac and Safari that the colours of some letters were hard to see. Wix is for those of us that don't have a lot of html or background in the the tech stuff, and don't want to rely on a company to produce and update our site. As a result, there are are limitations on what you can do, particularly with photo galleries. Limits placed on the number of images in galleries is frustrating: I had to be a tough self editor. That being said, it is free, unless you want to include an e-commerce section, with a shopping cart and Paypal connections; then you must upgrade. The major problems that I encountered were in moving around the order of photos. Be warned. Plan ahead, so moving image order isn't needed. Also, EXIF info is not read, so any captions had to be entered by hand. Wix is in BETA, so hopefully improvements will be forthcoming.
