Silverbanks B&W

Recommended Posts

Just returned from a trip to the Silverbanks, had some great encounters but weather and viz did not always cooperate, giving us only 2 1/2 days in the water, and 2 half days that were mostly on the water observing behaviour with some great rowdy group encounters.

As a B&W fan I think Humpbacks in these circumstances lend themselves to B&W. Also like the way B&W brings out the 'god rays' looking down into the water.

Here are a few mother and calf images, shot between 400 ISO with the clearer water images and 800-1200 with the poorer viz images. D700 with 17-35 or 16mm and 1.4TC

Yes, the contrast between the dark body and the white pectoral fish is just awesome Jeff.

Thanks for sharing these.

Thanks folks.

abott this was all snorkeling, a special permit is needed for diving, and I'm not sure there's a great advantage to diving. We did the trip on the the Turks and Caicos Explorer with Tom Conlin
