10.5mm Fisheye

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I am very pleased to report I am now the proud owner of a 10.5mm Fisheye! Finally digital wide angle underwater.

I am less pleased to report that just last week I sent my D100 to the blackhole of Nikon UK servicing to (finally) get the Firmware updated. So I can't even try the new lens out in the pool. That's so typical...

Hi Alex,

I’d be happy to try it out for you in sunny Florida.

Are they easily available in the UK? Anyone stateside have access to them yet?

Alex - I'd pay a pretty penny if you can get your hands on one for me!

Alex - Is that Version 2 or is there a newer upgrade?

Thank you all for your kind comments!

Jim, my D100 is off for Firmware 2 upgrade (unless there is a newer version) - I have been shooting it all year and didn't want to risk it being away until my diving season was finished.

Don, the lens has very similar dimensions to my 16mm FE. So I am sure I will (eventually) just use it straight behind the Subal FE dome.

Craig, you might be interested to know that the rear filter holder is different from the 16mm and can only accept cut pieces of gels.

Kasey, I have no idea on availability. My local camera shop is well connected, but Southampton (a small city on the S. coast of England) is hardly the centre of the photographic universe. I ordered the lens about 2 months ago, hoping to have it in time for my Red Sea trip a couple of weeks ago. I imagine that world-wide availability is pretty similar - I'd imagine Nikon will be working through the pre-orders for the next month or so. I'll ask - I was going to pop in there again today to try the lens on one of their S2s or D100s!

I wonder if they will let me borrow one overnight to try it in the local dive pool?

Finally I have my D100 back and have been able to attach my now old 10.5mm FE. Wow is it wide! Rather than post a FE picture of me sitting at my computer with my messy lab behind, I will try to get it in the pool in the next few days and post some UW shots.

So you can all go "ooo, that is wide"

Hey you guys!

The 10.5mm is available from UR Galaxy Co. Ltd.

Google will find the site on the Ebay listing of stores.

I have dealt with them before, and am awaiting an 85mm 1.4D for topside work.

Never a problem. Price should be STG£560 or thereabouts.

the email address for direct enquiries is:

hugoso@urphoto.com

Cheers,

Seadeuce

According to Nikon Professional Services the 10.5 is not yet shipping in the US. the couldn't give me a specific date but it was supposed to be mid November. Obviously the didn't make it.
