Aussiebyron 57 Posted July 29, 2010 I had the chance to take the Light and Motion Sola600 LED focusing/video light out (Light & Motion Underwater Lighting Systems - SOLA600) for dive today. I took my strobes off and just shoot video on my D90 with the Tokina 10-17mm. The Tokina 10-17mm was shot at 17mm as this was the best focal length for the spread of the Sola600's beam. Had some rough conditions with surge and the vis had also dropped from the days before. But there was so much action in the water it comes in handy sometimes to shoot video from the Nikon D90 instead of video. Here are some links to my first unedited video clips just to give you an idea of the setup: DSC_0019 on Flickr - Photo Sharing! DSC_0008 on Flickr - Photo Sharing! Aussiebyron 57 Posted July 29, 2010 Good work, You like like you need a second light. Hi Peter. Actually I think a second Sola600 would work well at say 12mm or more for a more wider spread. Conditions were not the best today so its a little bit of work in progress. Regards Mark
DiverPam 13 Posted July 29, 2010 How do you place your strobe/light when doing video? I have the DS161 on my D90 so I can do just this when the occassion arises. Thanks for sharing - DiverPam

Aussiebyron 57 Posted July 31, 2010 I tried again yesterday with the Sola600 but unfortunately I didnt use the correct WB presetting and lost alot of Red. Especially too since I got nice and close to the sharks. Here is what I got anyway.........still work in progress: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22898788@N04/4843159480/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/22898788@N04/4842594667/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/22898788@N04/4842699045/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/22898788@N04/4843274260/
Aussiebyron 57 Posted August 1, 2010 Ok. Used the best WB setting I can for the video (punched in as much red as i could in preset WB) for todays clips. It shows how much lower quality the Nikon auto 720HD is compared the Canon's 1080HD with adjustment. http://www.flickr.com/photos/22898788@N04/4848895190/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/22898788@N04/4849183874/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/22898788@N04/4848798177/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/22898788@N04/4848463097/
