Another glimpse on shark tragedy

Recommended Posts

I took these pictures in Norway, near Froya island on this summer!

They catch a lot of fish there (for sport as well as commercially) and eating some species of sharks is allso not very rare. Atleast they dont eat only fins, but the whole thing.

I saw these shakheads drying in the sunlight next to a small harbour on a very tiny island. I wasnt able to find the owner to ask what species it is, did they eat the rest of it, why are they drying the heads etc.

Anyways... I didn't like what I saw :D

Those heads belonged to porbeagle sharks, Lamna nasus. I suspect they will be sold and end up on people's living room or office walls. I saw mako shark heads like that for sale in Barcelona. A fairly large head with jaws was about $100.

Sad indeed!

I never got the point why someone would like a dead animal head on theyr wall - it's just stupid. Like a trophy of human stupidity...
