3d Glasses

Recommended Posts

I am looking for some recommendations for a pair of good 3D glasses to keep next to the computer. It seems Eric's videos are generally 3D Anaglyph. Any suggestions??

I've tested a few and find the paper glasses general have better resolution and more consistent color than the plastic lenses. They use a sheet of film which is better than trying to mix plastic to get the right color. I've also tried the Nvidia Vision and they are nice. Plus the software package is PC only which is a pain. I think amber/blue content will be more prevalent soon because of the better color rendition.

You may also want to get the color code amber/blue ones as well. I find the color a little bit more to my liking with Color Code vs Red/Blue. But Red/Blue is the prevalent choice by most.

Hi Mike!

To view anaglyphs like Eric's stunning videos, etc. you will get a nice result with the red/cyan paperglasses. If you like, you can buy a more solid pair of plastic... for instance at www.berezin.com

I have a couble of plastic polarizations glasses for viewing my 3D-pics by polarized projection, but I actually prefer the paperversion (You can get paperglases both for anaglyph and polarized viewing!) since they are much lighter.... and very cheap so if I scratch them, I just take a new pair!

I always have a big bunch of paperglasses with me, when I'm out to show my pictures for a bigger number of people and even I ask them to treat them with care, the are still cheap to replace if some people don't!

I haven't tried the Nvidia glasses my self, but as far as I know, these are socalled shutter glasses (Quite the same technique like 3D-televisions from Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, etc....!), which is completely useless to watch anaglyph material. These shutter glasses are made for films/files specially saved for shutter glass viewing and I don't think this kind of material can be viewed online with the technique available today!

Feel free to ask if you have further questions!

Best regards from Kim Meineche - www.photosub.dk/3d

Maybe Eric will supply all Wetpixelers with a pair of the Red/Cyan paper glasses in the next issue of the magazine? ;)

I don't mind buying a pair, but feel a little strange ordering a $1.00 pair online....where would be a good place to look for a pair of the red/cyan glasses locally?

Hi again Mike!

Since I live in Denmark, I relly don't know, but why don't order 5 or 10 pairs of paperglasses to have some for spare or some to sell again to other people in your area?

/Kim! :-)

Kim I was referring to the Nvidia 3D Vision Discover, which is a red/cyan eyeglass. The Vision and Vision Pro are the shuttered glasses. Sorry for not being clear.

Thank you for the info, Drew! :-)

I haven't seen that Nvidia had made this kind of glasses before now!

Best regards from Kim! :-)

Mike,

Those in the know say that the cheapest cardboard glasses are optically the best because they use film for lenses as opposed to plastics which can be very hard to mix in exactly the right colors. That said, I use a pair of plastic lens glasses from Rainbow Symphony and don't worry about quality, since I don't like anaglyph and use it infrequently. I have, however, been using it to view Eric's videos. I just checked in on the forum after 2-3 months absence and was amazed to see Eric took his Sony's underwater! Great results too!
