Aussiebyron 57 Posted March 5, 2011 Bloody awesome. When was it sent?? Ikelite and hybid bulkhead?? I can't wait. I have been without a housing for a few weeks as I sold my Aquatica AD90 to a mate. This has been killing me as we have been getting alot of Manta Ray and leopard Shark action here as well as heaps of Nudibranchs. The housing will be getting alot of action once it arrives. Thanks again Jean and the staff at Aquatica. Regards Mark

Viz'art 24 Posted March 5, 2011 (edited) Mark, you need one or two of those Kidding aside, it was sent minutes after the picture of the box was taken was taken. Blake one of the owner actually drove the boxes to the FEDEX office to make sure it did not stand still for the week end. The housing is as you ordered from Scubapix, Ikelite on one side and optic on the other Thanks Mark for being a great fan of the product, it makes our work pleasant knowing its appreciated, now if I could only manage a way to wriggle my way to Byron bay to grab a few nudie's with you, that be splendid Hey, just want to ensure you got the right address on that --- PM me and I'll give it to you... Mark (okay, it's John...) John, there is plenty more coming from where that came from Edited March 5, 2011 by Viz'art

Aussiebyron 57 Posted March 10, 2011 This long awaited package arrive today. I quickly unpacked it and read the manual and had a little play with it. I then put it all together for a couple of dives tomorrow here at Byron Bay. Even more excited now as I was told two large Manta's and lots of Leopards are around and the vis is improving. Here are few photos of Aquatica AD7000 serial 008. She now called Deedee (Thai for good good) as all my housings get a ladies name. The Ikelite and Hybrid bulkheads together. Room to move if need be. First impression of the housing is that has alot more engineering than my Aquatica AD90. The way the camera slides in and locks, the way the zoom gear attaches to the housing gears. The new port locking system. The two types of bulkheads which now allows for optical firing. Button lay out more suited to divers than a simple button lineup with the camera. I would like to thank Jean and the staff at Aquatica for the personalised service I have received in getting this housing. I would also like to thank Peter Mooney from Scubapixs Cairns (Australian Distributor for Aquatica) for bending over backwards getting the housing to me. Hopefully I can post some pics from tomorrows dive so I can show you what it can do. Regards Mark
Deep6 7 Posted March 10, 2011 We expect great shots form you and Deedee. I am channeling your exuberance through my keyboard. Congrats! Bob

Viz'art 24 Posted March 10, 2011 I am just a few hours from heading to Kona with Keri on the Aggressor boat (along with Stan Waterman), we will put the AD7000 and AN-5 housings through their pace for a week as well so that means no web connections for 10 days (just in case some of you think I am ignoring you), I will catch up with you guy's ASAP. One think for sure, given the weather outside my window... you can bet I will be apreciative of the weather over there.

I will have a nice new housing in my hands and eveyrthing will be posing for me but no camera. Cheers Mark Well I knew it was going to happen. First Dive with the housing wihtout camera inside I ended up diving for 30 minutes with a Manta which was basically in my face. Did two dives after with the camera inside but no Manta. Downloading pics now and will post some later. Regards Mark
Aussiebyron 57 Posted March 11, 2011 (edited) Ok. Here are a few of my first shots with the Aquatica AD7000 with Tokina 10-17mm. They havnt been edited just resized for quick upload. Vis was around the 10m mark and it was cloudy so no Sunburst. I basically left it on 1/320th to get the feeling of how it shoots. More photos on my Flickr link below. But keep in mind that the shots arnt edited. Geting Deedee (The Ad7000) ready again for early morning dive for Manta's. HobieGuy 0 Posted March 11, 2011 Hi Mark: Great shots! My AD7000 should be in soon, and I was wondering what extension ring and port are you using with your 10-17. Also, how do you like the newly redesigned zoom gear? Thanks, Ray J

Aussiebyron 57 Posted March 11, 2011 Hi Mark: Great shots! My AD7000 should be in soon, and I was wondering what extension ring and port are you using with your 10-17. Also, how do you like the newly redesigned zoom gear? Thanks, Ray J Hi Ray. I went with the recommend port extension #18456 (there was a type 4 port/extenion chart with the housing) with the 8 inch dome. But looking at how the camera body is position more deeper inside the housing I think one could get away with using no extension ring at all (will try later in the week). My mate has my 4 inch mini dome for the fiji trip but I think it got a bit chewed by some Bull sharks so I have to see how much damage it got. I would love to get my hands on the 9.25 inch mega dome. Maybe if Jean comes to Australia he can bring one over for me to borrow. I didnt attach the zoom ring on the Tokina 10-17mm as I about always shoot at 10mm and it was a pain to attach and remove the lens and zoom gear on the Aquatica AD90 everytime you want to take the camera out. But I did look at the setup for the zoom gear. It looks like you can simply pull out the zoom gear knob and the internal zoom gears move out of the way. Then attach camera and lens and zoom gear already attached into housing and push the out side zoom gear knob on the housing back in to move the internal gears to marry up the the zoom gears attached to the lens. You look inside the hosuing and see that there has been alot of thought put into it and it engineered well past anything I saw with the Ad90 Aquatica. Aussiebyron 57 Posted March 11, 2011 My D7000 housing is supposed to be in Fiji with me in two weeks. I hope it gets here in time... cdoyal, You must get yourself to Beqa Lagoon. My mate that bought my Aquatica Ad90 just got back two days ago and she had over 50+ large Bull Sharks on the dives. The numbers are increasing each day. Up until now she has only borrow my camera on a few rare occasion when I have been with her. So for a total novice with a DSLR she brought back some very impressive shark photos which are outstanding. I have to get her to load up some pics to view.
