chidalgo 0 Posted March 9, 2011 I was recently diving with my pair on Inon Z240 type 4, I noticed that the one of the strobe unit ready indicator light was taking longer than the other unit. I have inter changed batteries, interchanged sync-chords. Is there something wrong with this strobe unit? Thanks for your advice. Ramon
Kilili 0 Posted March 9, 2011 No clear answer here, but something is amiss. You could use light meter too see if output is identical. That would indicate one type of problem. The capacitor in one could have degraded, and that is another. Assume you checked strobe settings to see if identical. With many strobes, ready light comes on before full charge actually achieved, and may be that two are actually behaving differently. You didn't mention how much delay difference, and whether it affects shooting, or just an observation on your part.

For some reason I had to disconnect/connect the sync-cords while on the boat. noticed the strobe to be firing irratically upon connecting. Did i short anything/water comming in? where can i have this looked at, I bought these back in the phillippines 2 years ago. I am based in los angeles. thanks! tienuts 1 Posted March 16, 2011 (edited) Reef Photo is an Inon service center, but I can save you some trouble.... delays in recycle time are always due to battery issues. It's not water, as 1) the sync port on the z-240 is watertight, and 2) even a few drops of water inside would render the strobe non-functional. Many times it's a single dead battery which affects the others, but I'm fairly certain if you use a new set of Maha's or something similar, the problem will resolve itself. okuma 64 Posted March 16, 2011 For what it's worth. I just ran a strobe test on our 5 - 240Z strobes at low, medium and high output levels. I did 3 shots at each level. Results: The first shot on a cold strobe was 1/3 stop low on all units. All others , except one strobe at high lever were identical. The one was 1/3 stop low at high level compared to all others. Conclusion: Strobes are more consistant than my shooting capabilities!.
