Akulamd 3 Posted April 2, 2011 HeHello all! I am the proud owner of 4 SS-200 Ikelite strobes. These things are powerful and convenient for me to use with my Fuji S2?aquatica setup. Best of all - they provide the TTL compatibility with the camera/housing combination. I am thinking of upgrading my setup to D700 housed system. Can anyone suggest, if it is possible to build the system where the SS-200 will still maintain TTL compatibility with the camera? Thank you very much in advance. Sincerely Eugene
derway 2 Posted April 3, 2011 For sure, if you use an ike housing, it will work.
oldschoolphotographer 0 Posted May 22, 2011 I am in the process of "possibly" switching to a housed DSLR from my Nikonos-V's. The real concern for me is the cost of having to buy new strobes. I have a SB-105 and an Ikelite Substrobe 400 that obviously will not automatically sinc with the digital camera format. I was "told" by Ikelite that the strobes will not work and that I would have to buy new strobes. Does anyone know if this is true or not, and if there is an adapter that will allow these strobs to sinc TTL? I have seen mention online of a digital strobe adapter made by Heinrich-Weinkamp? Does anyone have one of these? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
buceo 2 Posted May 22, 2011 you can use the SB105 but only on manual you lose the TTL

Viz'art 24 Posted May 24, 2011 Mmmmm, sorry, the SS-200 will not work in TTL with any digital camera (except the Fuji S2) and that is with or without TTL converter, the strobe neet to be of recent vintage and of the DS- generation (as in DS-200, DS-160 etc.) it does not have the necessary circuitry to provide the pre flash required for the Digital TTL converter. (same goes for the Nikonos SB-105) these older strobes will work in manual only, which BTW, is quite easy (and reliable) with Digital cameras.
