For Sale: 145 Degree Lens for Light & Motion Bluefin Housing

Recommended Posts

I'm selling a mint-condition 145 degree lens designed for Light & Motion 2010 and later Bluefin housings. As far as I know, this lens is designed specifically for use with the Sony line of camcorders (you may want to call L&M to find out if this can be used with your Canon setup).

This is a great lens with very nice optics, and minimal distortion in the corners despite it's huge field of view. I've gotten some fantastic footage with this lens, but I'm upgrading my video system and no longer have any use for it. This lens has only been on about 5-10 dives, and I've meticulously cared for it. There are no dings or scratches on the lens - it looks brand new.

Retail price for the lens is $1,699; I'm asking for $1400 or the best offer I receive. Please respond to this thread or message me with questions or offers. As a bonus, when you buy this lens I'll throw in a dome port designed for the same line of housings. The dome port has no optics in it, so you can use it with any wide- or teleconverters you want. I'll also include a 0.7x wide angle converter which provides a nice fisheye effect to get you started.

I'd be curious to see some footage with the 145 deg lens. It is not advertised anymore on L&M's website and I can't remember whether it is a full zoom-through or not.

Would obviously be curious to see some footage with the "fisheye" lens. Those are dry lenses, correct?

(I have the Fathom 90 with a Stingray G2+ housing and am happy with it, but I remember having considered the 145 lens when buying my setup)

Thanks.

Hey Vafinator,

I saw your post about the 90 degree fathom—what housing have you got? They changed the port size starting on the 2010 models, so this 145 will only work on the new housings, and the 90 you're inquiring about will only fit on the older housings. Just wanna make sure you don't get a lens that won't fit on your housing!

The 90 you were asking about in that other post won't fit on your new Bluefin housing, I don't think. That stingray housing he's got is for the HC9, so it was released sometime in 2008 I believe. In 2010 they had to make the lens ports larger to accommodate the wider angle sony cameras being produced, so only new lenses will fit on the new housings. I've got a 90 up for sale but someone's talking about buying the whole bluefin package at the moment, so for now I'd prefer to just sell the 145 on its own. Sent you some sample footage from the 145. Let me know if you're interested—the lens looks brand new and works great.
