Weiry 0 Posted July 5, 2011 In Sydney Sept 2011 only time for 1 or 2 dives. Can anyone recommend a must do dive, either in harbour or surrounds and also a good operator. cheers
jonny shaw 16 Posted July 6, 2011 What are you looking to do? Most popular sites from shore are: Shelly Beach Clifton Gardens Camp Cove North Bondi Gordons Bay Best boat dives would be: Magic Point (Grey Nurse Sharks) Long Reef Long Reef Wrecks North Head (various Spots) Have a look at this I put a DVD together a couple of years ago which has most of the dive spots. frank_delargy 0 Posted July 8, 2011 (edited) In Sydney Sept 2011 only time for 1 or 2 dives. Can anyone recommend a must do dive, either in harbour or surrounds and also a good operator. cheers While there we took one day and went shore diving in Botany Bay and were lucky enough to see Weedy Sea Dragons and Cuttlefish as well as some great Nudibranch and plenty of creatures at "the Steps" dive site. http://www.delargy.com/2008_11_Australia/a...ydney_scuba.htm We used & I would recommend Abyss Scuba http://www.abyss.com.au/scuba/pc/Days-Divi...ney-77p2815.htm We hired a DM for 2 dives and it was worth it to insure we got to the right places and saw the weedy sea dragons we wanted to see. Enjoy! Edited July 8, 2011 by FrankD

photovan 0 Posted July 10, 2011 Clifton gardens is really nice, great macro. Otherwise get yourself to bare island. Cheers pete Hey Botany Bay divers... how did the viz at Bare Island site cope with cabling/dredging/drenching across the bay?
Pete L 48 Posted July 11, 2011 In a nutshell, it suffered terribly. The viz on a good day was 2mtrs! I did a few dives where u couldn't see your fins! I stopped going there for a very long time & when I did go back, the viz was back to 12-15mtrs. I'm not sure wether the dredging has stopped yet but I dived the steps at kernell on Saturday & apart from having the whole site to myself, the viz was around 15mtrs & blue water & 20degrees! Not bad for winter. There was so much activity aswell, I could have stayed there for days!
ATJ 1 Posted July 12, 2011 Where will you be staying and will you have your own transport? Will you be looking to dive on the weekend only or are weekdays an option? There are so many great sites around Sydney. Anything in particular you want to see?
