The app transcodes files in the AVC/H.264 file format to either uncompressed DPX or Apple ProRes. Version 1.5 offers: Technicolor CineStyle LUT support, full support for Canon EOS series/Panasonic SLR support, higher quality output than Canon's E1 plugin, higher quality output than QuickTime Player or FCP, output at different frame rates, command line / shell scripting support, DPX, ProRes and DNxHD output (DPX & ProRes Mac only, DNxHD Windows only), complete control over gamma correction / flagging, raw YCbCr output option for unprocessed luma channel extractionand timecode support. Drew 0 Posted August 12, 2011 For a while, I'd been using it to transcode. Switching to native editing Adobe CS5, the transcoding software do need to differentiate themselves to stay relevant, since it's basically extending the workflow time by a lot. What's nice about 5DtoRGB is the ability to change frame rates (FCS 3's Cinema Tools does it faster), getting REC709/601 profiles and of course time code support. Will be interesting to see if 5DtoRGB uses multicores. That was always a problem with many of the encoders. But since I went native, I haven't been paying too much attention to improvements.
