Steve Williams 0 Posted September 1, 2011 Sept 24th in Tucson, AZ I will be doing an all day U/W photo seminar to raise money for the Fin Foundation and wanted to thank all of you have helped us get this far. The foundation is on track to speak to over 15,000 children this year and has recently been provided a new bigger office in the Flaundrau Science Center at the University of Arizona. We are now partnered in education with the Reid Park Zoo, the Tucson Children's Museum and Biosphere II in addition to the Flandrau. The big news this month is that the Fin Foundation has partnered up with Providence Memorial Hospitals in El Paso, Texas. We will be working with their Children's Hospital in several ways to benefit their patients and families. First off will be updating their "Oceanville" floor where we will be adding some of our images and educational components to the unit to make this a great environment for the kids during their stay. We will also be conducting presentations four times a year at the hospital that will be open to the public. The hospital is committed to giving back to the community and being a place for more than just health services and recovery. They are going to be active in their education outreach and the Fin Foundation is going to be helping as much as we can. In order to make a few dollars to support all this activity I put together a couple of presentations to help our local folks take their photography to the next level. The seminar will be based on the ideas you Wetpixelians discussed and developed in the thread earlier in the summer; Defining the path to great Underwater Photography. Our local dive shop has graciously allowed us to use their facility and decided to make a whole day of it so the Light & Motion and Sea & Sea rep will be on hand to answer customer's camera questions. Thanks for all the help and if you're in the Southwest on the 24th stop by and say Hi. A special thank you to all the Fin Foundation photographers who allow us to use their "Amazing" images to reach out and help the children and our Ocean. You know who you are but I'd thought I'd share the slide I'll be using in the presentation to show you folks off just a little. Thanks again, Steve

Steve Williams 0 Posted September 26, 2011 The Fin Foundation Photo day was big success with a full house and standing room only for the morning session. I managed to survive my first attempt at leading a seminar with most of my limited faculties still intact. The Dive Shop was a wonderful host, (and they sold some cameras) the Fin Foundation made some serious money to support helping the children, the vendors got to talk about their new equipment offerings (Sea& Sea, Light & Motion, and Sea Life) and the folks who attended got a few ideas to help them improve their U/W photos. Big picture it was a Win Win for everyone. Thanks again for all who helped with the discussion and a huge thanks to the Fin Foundation Photographers. The attendees were seriously impressed by your images. Cheers, Steve

Ever plan on being in our neck of the woods, on say the third Wed of some month next year (not to be too specific). We (LAUPS) would love to have you come and give a talk about the fin foundation and my guess is you could get some pics for them as well. Bill
