Drew 0 Posted October 18, 2011 Seems the Thai made Sony NEX-7 is also delayed because of the floods. The floods reportedly haven't peaked yet: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-15350948
rtrski 20 Posted October 20, 2011 Just saw a post somewhere (dpreview) claiming the factories are completely flooded with little likelihood of recovery. Before I was just reading that the factories were okay but getting parts in and products out had been distrupted. If so, that's pretty bad. The human toll is of course worse but a trashed factory could take years to get running again. I don't know which if any of them have alternate factory lines elsewhere. Not linking here as there was no real attribution, so it might not be accurate. I haven't found a formal news story anywhere yet.
loftus 42 Posted October 20, 2011 Nikon's factory supposedly has no chance of recovery, and they make Nikon's low and mid-level SLRS (90% of their market). One has to wonder how Nikon can recover from 2 natural disaster hits like this in one year
