Tom Lowe's "Timescape" trailer

Recommended Posts

I have to say that Tom's latest trailer is simply amazing timelapse photography with sequences of "drivelapse" (timelapse in a car!) and the use of Kessler cranes and dollies. Mindblowing technical expertise... all in 4k and edited in CS5.5 Premiere Pro and AEFX.

Really stunning. Not only is the 4k footage beautiful but the lighting for each clip is perfect. Even the 'Fringe' text fit like a glove. Does anyone here know how to create that text effect? Would love to find a tutorial.

A mix of 7D, 5D2, 1D4, Red 1, Epic M with primes on sliders, gyros and cranes. If you go to the vimeo page, there are 2.5k and 4k version which is just awesome!

I know, the moving shots are absolutely stunning. Imagine how many hours have been spent getting it wrong and the weather changing etc etc. Truly amazing

Even on a high ISO the shutter has to be open for 10+ seconds on a full moon night, he must of had the car travelling very very slowly.

Maybe he was out the back pushing it a foot after each exposure lol

But also the speed would have had to have been pretty consistent too, so no getting tired while pushing the car :D

is everything timelapse, because some sequences look like they are "just" shot as a video (e.g. the dancing man)

"overcrank, undercrank wandering freee!!! It's not all time-lapse as you will see" ... sung to the wombles theme tune

Well there are too many techno geeks and knowledge posers on here so a little jovial answer here and there doesn't hurt. :):D

:D

My painter always tells me I have to stop and smell the roses when I bitch that he is taking too long. He tends to go on fishing trips between coats.

Man that RC helicopter failure was expensive, may match the loss of our drone in Iran.

RC Heli crash :-(

They should of used one of those Hexicopters, amazing machines.

Downloaded AE and tried out the Stabilizer on some raw Canon 60D video.

It's not prefect, can see the image distort but the thing that got me was it takes for ever.

The one I use in my NLE is a zillion times faster.

Will do some comparisons off both using the same clip.
