acuevas 4 Posted December 19, 2011 Hi, after a few months out of the water, today I made my first dive in the ocean with my new rig, Aquatica AD7000 There is one thing that I still don't have clear, how to align the zoom gear for the Tokina 10-17 in order to be sure that is not going to stop working in the middle of the dive or near to the end to be precise. Do you put the zoom gear before or after inserting the camera in the housing? I noticed that if I put the zoom gear in the lens before putting the camera in the housing, the zoom gear can get misaligned. I think I'm doing something wrong here. Please help me!!! Aussiebyron 57 Posted December 19, 2011 I first pull out the zoom wheel on the housing and lock it. This moves the zoom control away so you can slide the camera and lens with zoom gear already attached straight into the housing. The AF control and also the control which is used for removing the lens needs to be pull out. The Camera, lens and zoom gear just slides in and then you push the zoom control, Af control and lens locking control back in and check. Double check that the microphone jack for hydrophone is out of the way before locking the back of the housing to the main body of the housing. Double check that the AF control hasnt accidently moved the AF lever to manual also. Will try and get some pics for you to explain beter. Aussiebyron 57 Posted December 19, 2011 Top photos shows the 3 controls on the left of the housing pulled out so that the camera, lens, and zoom gear just slides straight in. Double check that zoom functions and that the Af lever hasnt moved to manual when pushing the AF control back. Make certain that the microphone jack isnt in the way. Once the zoom control is pushed back it aligns straight up with the zoom gear on the lens. Regards Mark

Can the controls also be pulled away in the same manner as I had fun and games trying to get my camera, focus gear and all out after my dive this weekend and if I was able to do a 30 minute ordeal would have taken a minute.. Aussiebyron 57 Posted December 19, 2011 Hi John. I had the Aquatica AD90 before the I bought the AD7000. The AD90 controls don't pop out like they do with the AD7000. If zoom gear was to be used with the Tokina 10-17 one would have to put the camera body in the housing and insert the lens and gear through the front of the housing before adding Dome or port. I shoot 99% of the time at 10mm with the Tokina10-17mm so I left the zoom gear off so I could change lenses a lot easier. Regard Mark
acuevas 4 Posted December 19, 2011 I first pull out the zoom wheel on the housing and lock it. Excellent explanation Mark!!! I knew I was doing something wrong. I didn't notice that the zoom wheel can be pulled out, I was pulling out the other two controls but not the zoom wheel. Thanks a lot for the pictures.
