Cal 5 Posted December 19, 2011 Hey Crew Heres an image I made over the weekend. Model was Tori Wood - She's tough as nails The shoot was pretty interesting. I had an assistant in full snorkeling gear and Tori hung onto his shoulders as we swam 50m or so out into the ocean. We then did the shoot for 30 mins and every time we popped up the assistant would help Tori catch her brief etc. After 30 mins in the water the surf started to pick up so we paddled as quick as we could back to shore. Everyone was frozen but we all agreed it was great fun! This second shoot was from a while back but I never posted this image. The shoot was in a freshwater river system in far north Queensland, Australia Hope you enjoy them! Cheers Cal

johnjvv 11 Posted December 20, 2011 Really beautiful...seeing that makes you wonder why bother taking photos of fish!! We arrive in Melbourne on the 11th of Jan and I am going to have to change my view on the meaning of cold water...we did a dive here in Qatar on Saturday and the water was 19 degrees (middle of winter) but I was ok in my 7mm. bcliffe 2 Posted December 21, 2011 Great as alway Cal. I always look forward to seeing your work. So a trick I started using this summer in my open water shoots, may have some application in you river series. I shoot in the St Lawrence River (fresh water in Canada) ... the water is very green. What I have started doing is setting a tungsten white balance and gelling my strobes with a full CTO. You lose a lot of flash power, but the out of camera colour is pretty close to what I want and reduces colour correction in post. For the most part I am quite happy with the skin tones and I simply go to saturation select cyans and push a bit more blue ... and that's about it. Anyhoo, just thought I would let you know my method in case it is helpful. Cheers Ben
Cal 5 Posted December 21, 2011 (edited) Stephen - Tori is awesome - really works had for the shots. My assistant and I grabbed Tori and started swimming back in as the surf was picking up and she thought we saw a shark and weren't telling her. Was a pretty amusing situation haha John - Melbourne has some great diving bcliffeThanks! Thats a neat trick! Edited December 21, 2011 by Cal
