alastair738 0 Posted December 27, 2011 I'm building on my cave photography and trying to improve it. Getting some really good results but still lose quite a few to focusing issues in the dark. I've tried shooting AF in open water first then flicking the camera into manual but then lost all the photos as they all looked blurry. The below were shot with Nikon D70, 10.5mm fisheye and 3 x DS-125's, 2 on the camera, 1 on the diver. Hope you like the photos - first three are Little River, second three are Peacock. Thanks Alastair
errbrr 73 Posted December 28, 2011 I like the Little River ones better than Peacock - I think because of the shape of the cave and a bit more light. The first and second shot are especially nice. I find focussing hard in larger, darker caves with less light bouncing around from primary lights. I tend to use my LED primary as a focus light if I need to which usually means blinding my buddy with it. I've yet to have any success with locking focus between shots, but I know others who do. sasdasdaf 2 Posted January 4, 2012 Nice pics! I prefer the pics of LR, but that's probably because I prefer the look of LR to Peacock. Thanks for sharing.
johnjvv 11 Posted January 4, 2012 Herewith comments from someone who has never been in an underwater cave and probably never will because I am too sh#t scared... thus take it with a pinch of salt as I don't know what is involved. I have seen many cave shots and I am always in awe of them because it looks so desolate and scary plus gives it always gives the perception of being exploratory. Therefore I feel seeing the line in the shots detracts from these attributes as it makes it look more like a beaten track. On the flip side, seeing it like this probably makes it seem a bit tamer to non cave divers like myself to attempt cave diving. Otherwise I like the pics but you will still not find me there!!!
