Deep6 7 Posted January 6, 2012 (edited) My wife and I are using award miles for a trip to Italy. We got a decent It, but taxes & fuel surcharges were more than $600 each for a round trip on British Airways. Needless to say we are not taking BA. I am thinking of tossing my box of PG Tips in the Platte River. "Don't tread on me." Bob Edited January 6, 2012 by Deep6
tdpriest 115 Posted January 6, 2012 BA are always expensive, but they're infinitely preferable to Continental cattle-class... ... I strongly suspect that taxes and fuel charges are going to blight any flights back to the home of modern Western civiization. Do let us know who gives you the best deal, as that could be very useful information! Tim
browng 8 Posted January 6, 2012 I rarely fly BA these days because of poor service in years gone by, but with their generous luggage allowances it is worth the hassle, especially next week on way to Cayman. For example Economy hold baggage allowance is two bags each of 23kgs and hand luggage of a further 23 kgs Business hold baggage allowance is three bags each of 32kgs and hand luggage of a further 23 kgs almost 120kgs - that's enough for the reabreather including tanks and all the camera gear. When you compare this with some of the miserable allowances from Singapore or Cathay, it doesn't appear as expensive after all. All the best Gordon

Not the most convenient, but $1,200 cheaper. Originating with American we get our two bags full for checked luggage. Since this is a not dive trip, we only need carry on for 10 days.
