Uli Kunkel 4 Posted January 15, 2012 Hey everyone, Im not sure you have heard, but there is work being done to try and create a shark sanctuary here around Sabah, this comes after the Sabah government has decided to impose fines on shark hunters! Great news, but the initiative needs that extra push! What can you do? There's a petition site online. Sign it, and pass it on to your friends and urge them to sign it! It's free, and would only take a few seconds. It needs to be signed by the end of the month! (In fact, it probably take you longer to log in and reply to this message!) http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/support-a...-of-our-oceans/ "The mission of the Semporna Shark Sanctuary is to protect one of the most diverse marine eco systems on the planet and protect the over exploitation of sharks, mantas, eagle rays, devil rays, marlin, sail fish and sea turtles. In doing this its objective is not only to protect and preserve these animals and the diversity of the coral reef systems in Semporna, but in doing so, protect and compensate fishing communities, secure the jobs that are currently held by many Sabahans in eco tourism which would be lost with the decline of these species and create many more in the maintenance, up keep and protection of South East Asias first Shark Sanctuary." http://www.facebook.com/pages/Semporna-Sha...0838545?sk=info
xariatay 1 Posted February 9, 2012 Done. They have a new photo https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=323...1&theater... With this comment: "photo was taken at Mabul Island in the house reef of one of the main resorts in Mabul. There was more than 20 shark bodies dumped here minus there fins. This is proof that the sharks are being caught very close to Mabul and Sipadan Island! If they where being caught in Indon waters why bring the shark bodies all the way back to Mabul just to throw them back in the sea......."
